In summary, the major contributions of this dissertation are:
- An adaptive synchronization method for the barrier free implementation
of dynamic communication patterns in data parallel programs.
- A fast conservative simulation protocol for the simulation
of data parallel programs.
- An integrated and fast conservative simulation protocol for the simulation
of message passing programs, which uses the following novel techniques:
- Dynamic lookahead detection in the framework of the null message
protocol. Static lookahead detection techniques are described but not
implemented.
- Conditional event protocol when progress using the null message
protocol is slow.
- Automatic elimination of the simulation protocol for deterministic
sections of code.
